*frequent paddlers pay this rate for the first two hours of paddling, thereafter the rates noted. 

Frequent Paddler Club: 

The frequent paddler information has been updated:

Basically the way it works is you prepay.  Package minimum is $200.  When you come in we calculate the time you're out and deduct from your prepay - based on the above rates.     

Why do it?  It's cheaper ( your rates are based on last years ) AND you can go out by the hour instead of having a minimum of two.  We put frequent paddlers in touch with one another (optional) for paddling buddies.  We hold FP parties!  Special benefits like being able to go out before we open (prior notice required) and stay out a little longer.

Cancellation Policies

Kayak Rentals:  24 hours - if you don't show, we will charge you.  If you call within 24 hours, you are still charged, however we will file a credit for you to use at another time.  If the weather is not great (high winds, rain, lightning) we will NOT charge you.  Weather is based on what is going on in Norwalk - check www.weather.com zip code 06853. 

Guides: 48 hours notice.  Less than 48 and more than 24 - credit towards rentals or future outing offered.  Within 24 hours, no refund. 

Training: 1 week notice, credit towards future training offered if cancellation up until 48 hours before event.  Within 48 hours no refund.

Yoga: 48 hours, no refund.

Children's Program: cancellation 2 weeks out from camp, refund.  Later than 2 weeks, credit towards another date/program or kayak rentals.  

Parties: Two weeks, after which deposit is non refundable.  Cancellation within 48 hours, no refund.  In poor weather a credit will be issued towards another date or kayak rentals, or a 75% refund given.

ACA Certified Flatwater Instruction

UPDATED CLASS SCHEDULE

Quickstart - sit-on-top          

10-12pm, Sunday August 31st, and Sunday September 14th.  2 hours training on the fundamentals of kayaking: equipment, skills, strokes, balance, capsizes and details such as weather, float plan, tides, destination.  4 person minimum, 6 maximum.  Private and semi/private by appt.  $95, includes rental.

Sit-In Kayak Instruction (cockpit)

10-1pm, Sunday Sunday September 7th.  This class is in sea kayaks, and includes the additional instruction appropriate to that style of kayak, including capsizing, self rescue and assisted rescue.  As an instruction and safety training facility for the Kayak for a Cause, we have a number of their Old Town Cayuga sea kayaks.  These are primarily for the use of paddlers in the event.  Secondarily for instruction.  Please note that unless you have taken this class, or can show proof of having taken a capsize class, you are not allowed to rent these kayaks without a guide.  $125, includes rental.

Private Classes $85/hr, rentals additional.  Semi Private $65.

Offsite instruction can be arranged, as well as kayak transportation.

Guides

Hire a guide to show you around the local area, take you to particular destinations and make sure you feel comfortable and safe.  Guides are particularly good for families and young children - taking the stress of the parents.  They are also recommended for large groups.  We prefer a ratio of 1-6 - particularly with children, 1-8 is fine for adults.  Additional guides are charged at a lower rate.

Instructor Level Guide               $75/hr

Regular Guides:                       $50/hr

Assistant Guides:                     $25/hr

Recommended ratio guide to client is 8 for adults, 6 for children.
