FITNESS AND FUN

Fun Is a Downunder Specialty

from Kayak Yoga to Sunset Paddling to SUP Parties and Races

The great part of kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding is that they combine fitness with fun.  Most of our clients tell us they have such a good time out on the water, they aren’t even aware of the physical benefits until afterward.  Whatever you’re doing Downunder, you’re having fun!

Full Moon Paddling

7:30-9:30pm.   Outfitted with night paddling lights, and experienced guides, we leave at twilight and paddle into the setting sun for a surreal experience as the wildlife bunker down for the night and the moon rises.  $55 adults.  Not recommended for children. Last for season October 11th 6:30-8:30pm Westport only.

Be Still and Breathe: A Meditative Outing

Starting up again September 11th.  Enjoy a paddle to just chill out, relax, slow down, and enjoy the experience - the water, the breeze, and the birds.  Led by Steven Freedman, avid kayaker and meditation instructor. A guided visualization will be offered.  No experience necessary. $50pp inc rentals

  • 10/2 Westport 10-12pm

Four guided kayaking and meditation tours where the emphasis is on slowing down, becoming one with the water and environment and reconnecting with what really matters.  Steve Freedman, avid kayaker and meditation instructor, will guide paddlers to a quiet area where he will lead a guided meditation for those interested.  Inspired by Natural Awakenings Magazine, this program is part of their community celebration.

Time Out

July - midweek 1/2 day SUP/kayak adventure.  Bring your lunch and head out to the islands with our guides.  Stop at Compo, and then venture beyond to Cockenoe.  In Rowayton - venture to the Fish Islands and Scotts Cove.

Eco Tours

Join John Hannan of the Greenwich Audobon Society on a tour of the nooks and crannies to find the wonders of nature - local wildlife is in abundance.  Osprey, peregrine falcons, egrets, herons, oyster catchers, and a variety of protected pipers and shore dwelling birds.

Sunset Paddling

Twilight, that magical time of the day where the light is perfect for photos, and everyone comes out looking good!  It’s particularly good for seeing the local wildlife as they settle down for the night.  Join our guide and explore the river.

Paddle and Pub

Thursday is social night - paddle for 1/2 price, or byo kayak/board and paddle for free (just launch opposite at the public boat launch on Compo Road).

Enjoy a Sunset Paddle and then head out for something to eat locally.  Grab ya mates and come mess around on all the equipment – sit-on-top kayaks, soft-top and epoxy paddle boards – give everything a go.

Family Fun Night

4:30-7:30pm Fridays nights you can paddle by the hour!  Dad's home early, head over to Downunder for some family fun.  Our guides will be happy to give you some toys and tips on how to engage and entertain the kids.  1 hour rates are $25 for single kayaks and $40 for double.

Fishing by Kayak

Twilight is when they bite, according to Nunz (Steve Annunziato), Dowunder guide and fisherman. Working with Westport Outfitters, your local fishing supply store, we have created a program that gets you out to those special places, where boaters can’t go, and the fish are in abundance.

Paddle to a Convent on the Water

Situated in the beautiful Scotts Cove is a local treasure, the   Once a month, we paddle over for picnic lunch prepared by the Sisters of the Convent of St. Birgitta in Darien. We sit on the lawn of the convent and enjoy a gorgeous view of the cove and out into Long Island Sound.  In addition to rentals and guide fee is a $20 contribution to the Sisters for lunch.
