In Westport enjoy the use of our 1200 sq ft space for a private party, surf theme and water sports optional!  For really special events, we can include the courtyard - accommodating over 100 people.

you’re sitting on a beautiful deck overlooking a river as the sun sets before you.  Waiters are serving cocktails and hors d’oeuvres straight from the oven.  Live music plays in the background, and candlelit tables are set for an elegant dinner with friends.  Or maybe you’d rather a rowdy lobster bake!  Whatever your fancy, we can arrange it.  With or without kayaking, Downunder can create a very special experience for whatever your occasion/event.  Rent an island, tour them by power boat, maybe a tall ship... Sheffield Island

Paddling events on this island that is partly owned by Seaport Assn and partly by McKinley Wildlife Reserve.  A great place for a large outing, catering available - the clambakes are particularly popular.  Team building events.

Children & Teens

Make it a party they will never forget – ‘Give it a go’ with kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding 

Childrens Parties – ages 6 - 12 years

Children learn about the gear, what's involved, and the basic skills before they venture out.  They learn about the environment and the conditions they'll be paddling in (wind, tides, and weather).  And then, they get out on the water and have enormous fun!  Kayaking skills are learned through playing games - finding the treasure bottles, pinning the tail on the kayak, dock ducking, sponge fights, and swimming (optional - but always come prepared to get wet!).Whatever the age, we know how to make it fun.

Teen Parties – ages 13+

Teens get to go a bit farther out into the Sound, to the islands, or exploring the coves.  Our guides’ step-up the experience, offering more challenges with activities that teach skills, and build confidence, balance and coordination.  They’ll enjoy relay races, navigating their way through a course, boat/board swapping, scavenger hunts, ball games, beach games, swimming, and shoreline explorations. We know how to keep teens entertained, interested, and challenged.  Photos galore and lots of bragging rights!

Details: 

Parties are for 2 hours, although teens might want longer, in which case we recommend a 3-hour party.  We also recommend that the party happens during the week when the rivers are quieter, as well as when the tide is high.  Paddlers enjoy a mix of double and single kayaks, and potentially paddleboards, for variety.  If you prefer all singles or all paddleboards, call or email for a quote.  The benefit to having your own kayak or board is that it is easier to learn, you have more control and independence.  If your group is an independent bunch, we recommend they have their own equipment.  The benefit of sharing equipment is the variety, diversity of experience, and lower cost.

Party favor ideas are provided for parents - so that every paddler can receive a unique Downunder goodie bag.  Our guide to child ratio averages 1 to 4, depending on ages and number of kayaks.

Pricing:

Weekdays:  Two hours 55pp, three hours $65pp.

Weekends:  Two hours $60pp, three hours $70pp.

Reservations and Cancellations:

To reserve all we need is a credit card number.  Your card is not charged until the day of the event, and you can choose a different form of payment at that time if you wish.  Downunder’s cancellation policy is 2 weeks’ notice.  Within 2 weeks, 50% is nonrefundable.  No refunds if cancellation is within 48 hours.  In poor weather, you have the option of full credit toward another date or kayak rentals for that year, or a 75% refund.
